Equal Opportunities Policy

NORFOLK and NORWICH OPERATIC SOCIETY

Equal Opportunities Policy

The Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society (hereby know as “NNOS”) has an objective to educate the public in the dramatic and operatic arts and to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts.

In order that we can fulfil our objective, no member of the Society should receive less favourable treatment on the basis of, nor suffer disadvantage by reason of:

Class or socio-economic status;
ethnic origin, nationality (or statelessness) or race;
gender (including gender reassignment);
marital or civil partnership status;
sexual orientation;
disability (including mental or physical ability);
political belief;
religion or belief (including the absence of belief).
All Members of the Society should seek to practise that equality, especially in promoting access to the dramatic and operatic arts in all parts of society.

Leaders and other volunteers

To carry out its work, the NNOS seeks to appoint effective and appropriate Professional Directors and Musical Directors, and to involve volunteers in supporting roles, all of whom are required to accept fully the responsibilities of their commitment.

Accordingly, all those whom the NNOS accepts as volunteers must be ‘fit and proper’ persons to undertake the duties of the particular position to which they have been appointed and, where appropriate, the responsibilities of membership.

No person volunteering their services should receive less favourable treatment on the basis of, nor suffer disadvantage by reason of:

age;
class or socio-economic status;
ethnic origin, nationality (or statelessness) or race;
gender (including gender reassignment);
marital or civil partnership status;
sexual orientation;
disability (including mental or physical ability);
political belief;
pregnancy;
religion or belief (including the absence of belief).
This is the Equal Opportunities Policy of The Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society. It will be reviewed every two years.
