Tap and Audition Workshop
Sunday 25th June, 2017 – 10:30am to 5:30pm
at the Chapel, Douro Place, Norwich NR2 4BQ
Director and Choreographer of the NNOS production of TOP HAT
“Chris has recently been working in venues from The Other Palace, Hope Mill Theatre, The Finborough Theatre and Cambridge Arts Theatre to festivals such as the Brighton Fringe Festival. Chris has an extensive background in Musical Theatre, but is interested in creating theatre that simply tells the story through whatever medium it may require. From new writing to Shakespeare, devised work to Musical Theatre, he’s interested in movement and action seamlessly coming together to engage and excite audiences. His upcoming projects include – ‘YANK – The Musical’ at the Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester and for the Petersfield Shakespeare Festival. “
A fun day – Chris will take three sessions – Tap and Audition Workshops closing with an Introduction to our production of TOP HAT. Stay for all three or simply drop in for the sessions that you’re interested in. The price for one or two sessions is £20.00 but the closing “Introduction to TOP HAT” is free.
Tap Workshop 10:30am to 1:00pm
Come tap your troubles away, learning skills and steps that will be used in our production of TOP HAT. Be able to get an insight into the work that Chris will be doing as well as the way in which Chris, as Choreographer, works in the room.
Tap experience helps, but it will be a workshop for ALL abilities. Come and have a go and perhaps learn a new skill.
Audition Workshop 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Chris, as Director, will take us through how he sees an audition working in an exciting new way. He’ll need up to 10 volunteers to work with and will give you advice on what are the good and not so good things to do in an audition room. He’ll talk about what sort of thing creatives look to see. If you fancy having a go and have Chris advise you on your work in a workshop forum then let us know on the form below – you’ll need to bring a song of your choice from a musical along with the piano accompaniment and a monologue from a play.
If you’re not so adventurous this session will be great to watch and pick up skills in your own time at your own pace.
TOP HAT – an Introduction 4:30 to 5:30pm
Chris will talk through the show to give you an idea on how he is planning on working. He’ll talk about the set and characters and be able to give you a view to how TOP HAT at the Theatre Royal, Norwich will be produced.
